Veterans Car Loans & Auto Financing

Car buying and financing resources for veterans and active-duty military in the DFW area

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Short answer

There is no VA home-loan equivalent for cars — the VA does not guarantee auto loans. Veterans and active-duty service members finance a vehicle the same way as anyone else: through a bank, credit union (USAA, Navy Federal and Pentagon Federal are common choices for military members), or dealership financing. The SCRA caps interest at 6% on obligations incurred before active duty, and the MLA caps the Military APR at 36% for covered borrowers. If your credit is limited or rebuilding, Cars For Less provides in-house financing — payments are made directly to the dealership, with no third-party lender.

We Honor Veterans

At Cars For Less, we are proud to serve our military community. We offer special programs and flexible financing options for veterans and active-duty personnel. Ask our team about available military discounts and programs.

Military Car Buying Benefits

Several programs exist to help military members and veterans purchase vehicles:

  • USAA auto buying service with pre-negotiated pricing
  • PenFed Credit Union competitive rates for military members
  • Navy Federal Credit Union auto loan programs
  • Manufacturer military rebate programs (varies by brand)

Flexible Financing Options

Whether you have excellent credit or are rebuilding, we have financing options. Veterans with steady income and good credit may qualify for competitive rates through our lending partners. We also offer in-house financing for those who prefer a simpler approval process.

VA Loans, and What to Bring to Qualify

VA loans are designed for home purchases, not vehicles — there is no VA-guaranteed auto loan. Approval for a military or veteran auto loan depends on the same factors as any car loan: income, credit history, debt-to-income ratio, down payment, and the vehicle itself.

  • Proof of income — recent LES, DD-214 plus civilian pay stubs, or VA award letter
  • Government-issued photo ID (military ID or driver license)
  • Proof of residence and a working phone number
  • Down payment, if one is required for your approval
  • Trade-in title, if you are trading a vehicle you own outright

If you are rebuilding credit or have a short credit history, our in-house financing reviews your whole situation rather than a score alone.
